In industrial buildings the market share for steel ranges from 30% to 90% in the various EU countries
EUROBUILD in Steel:

This European research project was concerned with identifying the factors which will influence the next generation of building design and in developing opportunities for steel-intensive products and systems. Three market sectors were studied: commercial buildings, industrial buildings, and residential buildings which are different in character and in potential market share for steel. The work has been carried out in the participating countries in order to identify differences in market perception and opportunities across Europe. A set of documents were elaborated in order to help steel customers with their design. Furthermore a database with relevant info was created. The project was funded through the ECSC program.

Dissemination project EUROBUILD+:

The objective of this RFCS dissemination project is to publicise the findings of the Eurobuild in Steel project on the key factors that influence the next generation of steel framed buildings and to prepare best practice guidance on the use of steel that reflects these trends and drivers. The project will take the form of national seminars in 7 countries (GE, FR, ES, UK, NL, BE & SE), publications of best practice guidance on commercial, industrial and residential buildings, and further dissemination through stakeholders and Steel promotion institutes at a European level. A data base of important information will be prepared. The project started in July 2007 and the seminars will be held during the second semester 2008.
